Abstract
Gender biases in the workplace refers to generalizations or stereotypes about the attributes of women, and they are used to describe what female employees are like stereotypically or define what women should be in the workplace. Today, gender bias still exists in our contemporary society, and it negatively impacted women’s personal and career development in ways such as gender stereotypes and a glass ceiling and so on. This paper focuses on the issue of gender bias in the workplace in the United States to explore the impacts of this gender issue on women’s lives and social justice. Based on the research, this paper argues that gender bias still exists widely in the workplace in the United States, and it causes a glass ceiling in the workplace, results in women’s stress and anxiety, and reinforces gender inequality in the US society. Also, solutions to gender bias include using laws to fight against genderism and using some tactics to break the glass ceiling.
