HI, everyone, I’m xiaoli.Zhuo . like I said ,you guys can call me lily if you want. may be that’s easier to remember. I came from China and graduated from chinese high school. you can imagine how different everything here from my high school is. my high school in china is a key high school in the city where I lived. the campus is big and beautiful, perched atop a little hill, overlooking the River, surrounding by the trees and flowers. there are almost 7000 students and staffs in school. 50 students in one classes, but it never be crowed because the classroom is ample.we usually discussed questions after classes. our teachers would not leave after the class if someone needed help , teacher would help him/her figured out the answer. yes, now, we have to learn to be independent, professors no longer “baby”their students.what’s more, I have to get used to the different language surroundings. sometime I can’t totally understand because of slangs or some new words. although I would feel a little bit depressed , I still believe that everything would be fine if I try to feel free to speak out, people here would be friendly to me,encourage me and help me. I have to adapt to this brand-new environment as soon as possible, or I will fall behind. that’s terrible.the third concern is about study skills, including time management. like this week, we have a long weekend, but we have essays, readings, project, proposal …lots of work to do. so how to manage time effectively is very significant. if we can take the most advantage of time ,then we can “事半功倍” ,a chinese idiom, means twice as much can be accomplished with half the effort.
I realise that I will be confronted with lots of challenges and intriguing experiences in baruch. both difficulties and happiness will make me mature. these experience will widen my horizon, advance me academically, enrich myself with knowledges and develop myself professinally.
