my trip to Printed Matter

6 books I liked from Printed Matter:

“Tiger Tiger” is a paperback book by Charlotte Dumas that is full of photos of tigers. “Tiger Tiger” is $15 and the binding of this book is stitch bound. It was printed in April 2008, edition 1200 and printed by Rosebeek with off-set printing. This book caught my eyes because tigers are my favorite animals. The book contains magnificent pictures of tigers and their lifestyles. I did a little more research on this book from Charlotte Dumas’s website and it says that this book actually consist nine tiger portraits that were taken in 2007 in Texas and Indiana.

“Crapbook: the bitter the better” by Joost Halbertsma cost $10 and the binding of this book is staple bound and paperbacked. It was copyrighted in 2008, edition 98/100 and printed by Apartment Press with laserprinter. This book really caught my eyes because the title itself is very funny and the next page is also hilarious “Put book on shelf next to others, repeat process your whole life”.  According to the web wormshop.nl it says that the “Crapbook, the bitter, the better” is actually the third edition of ongoing series of sketchbooks that Joost Halbertsma made that contains his daily drawings, cartoons, one-liners and random stuff collected.

“1-800-MICE” No. 2 by Matthew Thurber was printed by PictureBox inc. in 2007. The book is a paperback book with staple bound binding. The edition of this book is unknown and cost $3.95. This book’s title and cover picture was interesting. “1-800-MICE” sounds very interesting and has a picture of a gray hooded person who looks like a evil person or someone who is about to do something bad.

“Oracle” is a paperback book by Ann Messner and also copyrighted by Ann Messner in 2003.  The book’s binding is glue bounded, edition 1000 and cost $25. “Oracle” is filled with black and white picture of famous people such as Ghandi, Martin Luther King and Malcom X. The interesting part of this book is that the pictures are blurry and seems as if the camera lens was not in focus, but you are able to make out who each person is.

“Look Now” by Katsuo Design is a paperback book with staple bound binding. This book cost $18, edition 500 and offset-printing that was copyrighted in 2008 by Katsuo Design and Utrecht. The only thing that made me pick up this book was the fact that the title of the book “Look Now” repeated itself four times on the cover; therefore I took a look now.

“Public & Private” by Merrill Wagner are two hard cloth cover books that comes with a slipcase, one book called “Public” and the other “Private” copyrighted in 2004. These two books were both offset-printed with sewn bounded binding. Edition 1500 and $50 for the set. This set of books caught my eyes because one book is called “Public” which contains pictures of the outdoor, and the other book “Private” which contains pictures of wooden fences which represent private.my mim
