One Response to Should I become a blood sucker too?

  1. I’ve been trying to figure out what it is about these images that I am finding disturbing, apart from the fact that I have a visceral aversion to images of suffering and human degradation. What I’m noticing is how your monsters are victimized and your victims, monstrous. The monsters – as in this image, which I see as being of a monster more than of a victim – don’t have victims (or are shown having victims) – they appear instead to have been victimized by their own monstrosity. In both the ‘we’re going to eat you’ and the ‘killing me softly’ image, it is unclear whether the figures are monsters or victims and they could well be both at the same time. In the ‘we’re going to eat you’ image, the fact that the human figures appear to be in a snapshot having a good time, that has in turn been taken over by a horrible crud, enhances that feeling of victimization. It’s like monstrosity is inherent in the seemingly-normal situation and there’s nothing that can be done or is being done about it. I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s ultimately the powerlessness that I’m finding to be creepy.
