I actually like the original one better, I guess I just favor dark backgrounds in general. The original one gave me the feeling that the image was taken as it is with some illustrated effects while the second version sort of made it feel like it was two images put together(so its like separate stuff mixed together). And the black and white contrast stood out more in the original one where as the colors stood out more for the second version, its a little distracting to me. Overall, great work!!
A majority of the people I asked like the 1st one better for the dark background. Im still in decisive as to which one I like best. Can I ask which framing you prefer, more space with the 1st version or less space? Both designs are composed of two pictures it is actually the same person holding the gun and sitting in the chair.
Both of the images are good as to which has the better framing in my opinion the original looks better. To me the first one has a more dramatic quality to it because the person in the chair is farther away. The first one looks like the action is about to happen in the second one it looks like it already happened.
I like the way the picture construct. the gun and the deep color catches the eyes balls. And the illustrations gives the picture a little of comic effect. The lightening of background focuses the gun even more.

I agree with Rita. The original just flows and connect better since the whole image has a dark theme.
