I like it WAY more WITH the drawn butterfly and curlicue stem! To me, the unadorned photo is pretty boring. Having lived in the East Village for nearly 20 years–I’ve literally seen tons of plants growing amongst corrosion and decay. The drawn butterfly, to me, represents the nearly maniacal vision of some souls who miraculously survive danger and destruction by being full of life and plans that have the potential to allow the person to transcend their surroundings. The irony is that the butterfly can fly away, while the plant cannot. But the butterfly is short-lived, while the plant may out-live the danger and destruction–and escape it via longevity.
