Review #3-MOMA

People always say that the eyes are the windows of a person’s thoughts. The eyes reflect the inside feelings and emotions of a person. Focus is like the eyes of the artwork. Looking at the focus of an artwork, we can sense and guess the ideas and the thoughts the artists want us to see. It helps the viewer to receive the message. I sometimes have problems with staying in focus by creating colorful images. Consequently, I am a fan of using words in my images. However, the exhibition in MOMA shows me the ways of making focus. The use of color and arrangement of the components are two of the major techniques of creating focus. Continue reading

Review #2- Implant

Plants are great creations of the world. They are beautiful and inspirational individually and collectively. Artists love them, and plants are often their best friends for creations. However, plants themselves are already lovely artworks of nature. The exhibition “Implant” at UBS gallery shows us how the plants relate to the artists, and how the plants influence human society. This show reminds us that plants are beautiful and powerful, and artists can be the links connecting human beings and plants. Continue reading

Review #1-Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum

Some people think that art and design must be very complicated. I totally disagree; I think simple artworks can also be successful and influential. In Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, i discovered some interesting works, and they are simple from the materials to the looks. Notorious B-A-N-K-S-Y : Review 3

I have always been a fan of the anonymous artist turned international sensation Banksy.  He has been on my list of artists to go and actually see their work for a very long time.  There have been many different pieces he has worked on and some that have turned up in weird places over the years.  In fact, I remember that there are so many places in Brazil and in the UK where his street art is famous and have been talked about in Newspapers and many countless weblogs including Gawker.  That being said, when I learned that he was in NY and was opening up a gallery, I was thrilled.  I was also very interested to see that there were also rats, 3 really big rats, around town that had different themes.  My favorite was the rat that had a t-shirt that had the “I LOVE NY” theme.  He was more here for an installation called the “Village Pet shop and Grill” Continue reading
