For my Trace Your Name project I chose the font Garamond, and the adjective that I chose was DASHING. I don’t really have a reason for why I chose Garamond, it just stood out to me. Maybe it was the serifs that I liked. This project seemed easy, but it was actually harder than I thought. Probably the hardest part for me was freely drawing my name. It was hard to get the strokes, and the measurements right.
This typeface I realize, has a foot to every letter. The base of the letter will always come out into a horizontal line which surprisingly was a little difficult to perfect. This made my letters a little messy. Overall I learned a lot with this project, we all give so little thought when we’re typing on the computer, but there is so much thought that comes into forming certain typefaces and creating each letter.
Garamond is a beautiful face. That’s reason enough.
