  1. Expressive Words – Grace Salas

In order to get great results, it’s really important for you to understand how sketches will help you communicate your design to the public. When I first started with my sketches, I did not have a clear idea of what I was doing. I had different words, a pencil and different ways to allocate those words, and try communicate the meaning of them, efficiently. Helvetica is a really interesting and fascinating typeface that can be found everywhere. I’ve decided to use Helvetica light and just play with the size throughout my tracing paper. While I was finishing with one, ideas came in droves.
After spending a long time doing sketches, it was time to put hands on InDesign. The words started to take form and meaning. I definitely enjoyed working with the word elegant. I tried to communicate the elegance present in that word, which I think, I successfully did it. I believe every word has its own challenge, but is your job to solve the puzzle. From this project I’ve have learned that the position, the way you allocate a word and the size can also help you to communicate the meaning inside each. I’ve learned that a word is set in certain position not just to look fancy, but because it is helping the viewers to understand the word.
