Day#1 – I went to the library on Saturday; where I typically go to study/do my work. I sat at an empty table where it would be easier to concentrate. Fast forward, I was doing some math homework and I was struggling to understand the material even with the assistance of a YouTube video. Frustration took over me and I glanced around my surroundings looking for help when I saw a man who was staring at stocks on his computer. I decided with a leap of hope to ask him for help he took it upon his kind gesture to help a college student. After I asked for help-he appeared confused and after a couple minutes he looked it up and was able to help me. He showed me in pencil on a scrap of paper how to solve the equation and I heard an accent spoken out of his mouth. Upon closer inspection, I heard him counting in Spanish, and I switched to my bilingual side and said “Mucho gracias”- thank you very much and he was delighted that I spoke in his native tongue. After a brief conversation, he told me to practice math more and I said of course and I said “adios”-goodbye after he left.

Day#2 -It was Friday: I was content since I only had one class that day. It was precalculus and I was exhausted from taking copious notes on math in my notebook. After class, I departed and took my usual route home. It was an important day in my region to do a paramount prayer at the mosque- also known as the “Jum’ah prayer”. I entered the mosque and intentionally switched my greeting towards the Muslim members in my community with the Arabic greeting “As-Salaam-Alaikum”. After prayer, I went home and spoke to my sibling in English.

Day#3 -It was Sunday: I was home watching some funny memes and I was bored. I asked my mom in Gujarati(Indian language) “What’s for dinner” and she replied in English “fried fish with rice” and I was famished.

Day #4 – About two weeks ago I went to Starbucks to buy a plain bagel: I spoke more formally/politely because someone was taking my order. After I left and returned to college I began talking with my friends in a slang/informal way.

Day#5- I don’t remember the day but when I was in a Zoom meeting for (Mindful Mondays): a requirement for FYS. I was a respectful participant and answered the adults with a professional attitude/demeanor.

Day #6- I was texting my friends via message- in a humourous way- while when I send a message through Discord with my classmate more formal/coherent.

Day #7 I was @Baruch-talking to one of the members of the club recruiters- I was respectful and was talking in my normal/formal way.
