What makes this piece interesting is the person in the photo.
The main components of this work are the colors.
Repetitions of similarity occur in the background.
Binary oppositions are present in the color scheme.
What is being implied or suggested is that the person in the photo is good at the drums.
I am left with questions about: How much did the photo cost to buy?
We have to know who Tony Williams was as a drummer. The image was made in 1971 in Germany.
The genre of the image is music. It does not remind me of anything I’d seen before. It does not carry any associations to anything from my prior knowledge, experience, or observations?
I think the intended audience for the piece is people who like music. The kind of person this would speak to the most is a musician. I am not a member of that target audience. The assignment drew me to this work.
I think the purpose of the piece is to show respect to Tony Williams as a person. This purpose may not be the same as what the creator might have had for the piece? I think the creator intended to encourage people as its purpose.
Social reforms gave rise to the need for creating the image. Social understanding might have been the historical circumstance that fostered the need for its creation?
In terms of the composition of the image, it is arranged by colors. The elements are also organized by colors. the rest of the band was cropped out. The point of view of the viewer of the image is in awe.
The image cannot be read for its Aristotelian elements (pathos, ethos, logos). The argument being made in the piece is Tony Williams is an amazing drummer.
The image makes me feel sad because I never got to watch them in action.
