Field Analysis: Wind Stories.

A quiet, dry, dark rest out of the wind Ah, this photograph gives us the idea of a type of outdoor artwork, as there is a context of a makeshift type of tent made out of rocks and pebbles. As the artist really intended to go outside throughout the world, making outdoor artworks and showing us the artwork by putting temporary sculptures in the landscape, The historical context can really be traced back to 1970–2013 at Hamburger Kunsthalle, as it was simply a tent that was created with the intention of becoming an artwork in the landscape. The genre of this image seems to be a photograph in a very calm setting, like an artwork that was made to be looked at, where you feel calm by just looking at it. No complicated drawings. There are no difficult words to understand. It does really remind me of those famous tent artworks that paint the midnight stars. A beautiful piece of artwork showing the calmness of midnight while camping outside It does carry some associations, as it does remind me of the time I went camping, where the artwork reminds me of how camping allows people to live the way they want, meaning creating a makeshift tent can be seen as artwork in some way.

I believe that the intended audience is those who really like the idea of nature. An artwork painted out in a natural setting really catches this attention, as this artwork really blends in with this idea of nature. This type of artwork really speaks to those who just enjoy the outside world and really like nature. But I am not this type of intended audience, but I really draw to this photograph of a tent that was somehow able to blend in with the mountains in the background and the words that are trying to depict the meaning of the artwork. The purpose of this artwork was simply this idea of the act of walking through different landscapes and creating temporary sculptures in the landscape before leaving them exposed to elements. The artwork really shows that as it is just a tent that is left behind a mountains left in the wind and slowly blending in, this intended purpose was to create a type of artwork where you would take a photograph as you had built the art and let it sit into the natural setting, creating this artwork that really draws you in as it is very different from other artworks, as the words that are displayed on the artwork can really tell you what is happening there also. There was maybe a rise to create such art to show off how modern art can be shown in a natural setting rather than an imaginary setting where you have to paint the background through the use of your mind. And using the natural setting to create such an artwork really impressed me. I think that there were historical circumstances, as maybe there was not enough attention paid to nature itself, and not many people really appreciated how nature can be used in an artwork. I think that the main focus is the nature-blended tent made out of stones, pebbles, and rocks alone that really draws you in first, as next would be the words trying to explain the artwork to you, telling you how you would feel if you were there yourself, a quiet, dry, dark rest of the wind. The edges would be the mountains, as they are cropped out to give you the illusion that the artwork is in a natural setting that really complements the main focus of the artwork as a whole. The point of view would be what is right in the middle of this focus of temporary sculptures in the landscape. I don’t really think that Aristotelian elements can be used, as they do not really intend any meaning but the meaning of an artwork in nature itself.

This image really made me feel calm and happy to look at, as when you tend to look at artwork that is out in nature or just in a peaceful setting, you don’t really feel anything else but just being at peace. This artwork does not give off any identity markers. My final thoughts about this were that this was an artwork where you can easily find out the meaning, but it was hard to figure out why this type of artwork was even created in this way.

  1. Although I can’t see the image, I could envision what you’re describing. I really like nature and believe there’s something really beautiful about it. I think this image is definitely something I would enjoy to see.
