Field Analysis

The photograph taken by Judith Turner in 1998, capturing the construction of Baruch, presents a compelling and vivid scene. The use of black and white adds a timeless and classic quality to the image, emphasizing the seriousness and dedication of the construction process. In the photo, the focal point is the three construction workers who are laboring high above the ground. Their positioning conveys a sense of daring and risk, as they appear to be working at significant heights without any visible safety equipment. This conveys an element of fearlessness and perhaps a nod to the grit and determination that construction workers often exhibit.

The photo not only showcases the physical labor involved in construction but also touches on themes of bravery, craftsmanship, and the diverse roles that workers play in bringing a project to fruition. It captures a moment in time, freezing the dedication and effort of these workers as they contribute to the creation of the Baruch school.

This picture is up around the halls to remind students of the heroes who built our school. To remind us that without the working class society would not be able to run

  1. I like how you brought out a deeper meaning behind this photo since it is a photo of construction workers building the school currently go to. it gives us a better understanding and much more appreciation to the people who worked constantly to build the school we now call Baruch.

  2. There are many people who don’t get the recognition they deserve. I like how this piece brings attention to the people who built our school.

  3. Construction workers are definitely one of the work forces that gets looked over. I would not be brave enough to sit on a single beam of steel.
