Hello everyone, my name is Selena. I am a transfer student, and this is my first semester here at Baruch. I answered a few questions about myself within this exercise, which is very unlike me these days. I really had to think about the answer to some of these questions because they aren’t things I usually think about. I thought it was a nice ice breaker though, and I enjoyed getting to know all of you.
One of the questions I answered was “Where would you like to go in the world and stay for a year? Why?”. At first, I wanted to say somewhere in the Caribbean for obvious reasons(the sun, beach, warm weather & fresh food), but decided on Switzerland. It seems very beautiful based on videos I’ve seen online and you never hear about anything bad happening there. I would just love to see what life is really like there and to explore the country.
My first interview was with Joseph. We immediately realized that we are both introverted so that broke the ice and we had a nice conversation. One of the questions we discussed was if we could choose anyone as a dinner guest who would it be? Joseph chose Elon Musk due to his wealth. He also felt that Elon had a very unique perspective and that he would love to hear his opinion on various topics. Another question we discussed was something that we found difficult to do. I stated that I had a hard time doing absolutely nothing at all and Joseph agreed, he added that he had a hard time waking up which I agreed I had difficulty with as well. I think people generally have a hard time getting outta bed, especially on a Monday morning. We discussed a few more questions and then I went to another group.
When we switched back I sat with Brian and Christopher. I asked them what place they would want to travel to. Christopher stated Germany due to his interest in soccer. Apparently, they’re known for their soccer league, which was something new for me. He also stated that he wanted to learn more about Germany’s history. Brian stated he wanted to go to Tokyo because of the way the Fast and Furious movies portrayed the cars there, and also because of his interest in anime.
This was my first time doing an ice breaker like this in a classroom setting so I thought it was very interesting. I look forward to continuing to learn and getting to know my classmates this semester.
I really liked how you wrote this. I also agree that I enjoyed doing this Ice breaker and this was also my first time doing an Icebreaker this way.
I enjoyed the fact that you talked about how you and Joseph were both introverted and this helped break the ice so the conversation and so you two could have a good conversation. I also would agree that doing nothing at all is very hard because I feel like I am missing out on something if I am not doing anything.
I would also love to go the Caribbean and experience the beautiful beaches there!
I would also love to stay in Switzerland for a year; the scenery there is beautiful. I also agree with you and Joseph about getting out of bed especially early in the morning on a Monday. But what helps is that I know once all my classes are over, I’ll have the rest of the day free.
