Three Passions Assignment

My life’s three passions so far have been the seeking of joy, understanding, and success. Those three aspects are different for everyone, yet for me, they come from a lifetime of experiences and wanting to make the most of my life before my departure date. Materialistic things come and go, yet these three aspects will go with me to the afterlife.

The seeking of joy came about by the realization that, without any joy, no one’s life would be complete or worth it, including mine. Joy can consist of many things; however, for me, it has always consisted of my family, friends, peers, and activities such as swimming, hiking, music, reading, and soccer. All this brings me joy, which is a crucial component as it is partially another motivator in my daily life. Life has a lot of stressors, yet having joy makes it easy to keep going every day, just like the habit of understanding. Understanding is much more than what the average person deems it to be.

I have sought understanding because, just like joy, it makes life a whole lot easier. It’s important to remember that in this world, one isn’t the only one going through stuff. Hence, understanding is essential for me, as it not only helps me better understand a person but also helps me be a better person. Understanding just helps develop deeper connections with people, which is great as ultimately we are in this together. In non-serious aspects, understanding is also great, for it helps me not judge why sometimes my friends tell me about their unusual habits.

Success for me personally is interpreted in various aspects, yet I do specialize in the impact I have or leave on the world. This doesn’t mean fame or a huge remembrance of my name, but instead how I help the world. I think my biggest fear is leaving this world without doing anything great or useful. Don’t get me wrong, having money and being a well-known figure in business is great, but not if you leave this world with numerous resources that could have eased someone else’s life yet didn’t. Seeing the world around me suffer and crumple further into chaos each day makes me value this aspect deeply. Just because I was lucky enough to have life’s basic necessities doesn’t mean those around me do as well.

As mentioned earlier, everyone has different elements that make up their purpose in life or their values. Yet, joy, understanding, and success are my life’s passions. These aspects not only make up my daily life but also make me complete as a person. Passions can often change within time and life experiences; however, not mine.

  1. I agree with you when you say that understanding the world and the people around you is important. Understanding your surroundings makes you a better person and clears your mind from bias and prejudice.

  2. Hi Evelyn, I agree that everyone needs to have joy in life, especially considering how stressful it can be sometimes. It is nice to learn about your passions in life and how they can also connect to the people around you. For example, you mentioned accepting the differences and contributing to the world.
