Three Passions

I believe that passions are a form of happiness, everyone has passions that shape who they truly are. Such passions become careers, hobbies, or forms of relaxation for most. Having passions can serve as a sense of purpose, most people are driven by their passions. One’s passions can differ from others and that’s what makes them unique.

My first passion would be books, I love reading but of course only the novels that fully interest me. In middle school, I had a teacher that would love to read, she would always carry a book with her. She described reading as her “escape from reality” and would let me borrow from her little collection. However, I didn’t truly fall in love with reading until my junior year. I wasn’t going through the best time and decided to pick up a book I never finished. I understood what she meant by “escape”, while being fully consumed in the novel I began to forget the struggles around me. I value my books, because I enjoy the peace and happiness they provide me.

My second passion would be music, I’m in no way artistic or a musician, but I appreciate the thrill music gives me. Music is essential, it helps me let go of and feel certain emotions. My sister and I have this habit of blasting music whenever either one of us has some type of chore to do, it makes the tedious task more enjoyable. We’ll just raise the volume and dance all around our living room. I appreciate those moments because they make me feel closer to her.

My third passion would be my friends and family. I don’t have a big family, it’s my parents and sister, and they’re all I’ll ever need. I like to keep my circle small as well, the friends that I choose are those I genuinely love. I care deeply for those around me, I try to make my love shown to them as reassurance that they’ll always have me.

It’s difficult to narrow down my passions into only three, but those were the first three that came to mind. My three passions are what I think shape me and describe my personality the best.

  1. I agree with your point of never really understanding what most people meant when they said books were an escape of reality until recently as I have felt the same way too. Books never really seem like they could help but they really do. You just have to find the right book!

  2. Hi, I realized that you and I have the same passions!!! We both think books, music, and friendship are what is most important to us. I am happy I found someone else who enjoys reading books as much as I do. It is hard to find people who like reading books these days.

  3. Hi! I never was much of a reader until recently, as after watching the Percy Jackson tv show I finally decided to pickup reading (starting with the Percy Jackson books of course), and I totally get your passion! Escaping into these new worlds is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced!
