Introduction – Melanie Robles

My Intro: What do you consider your most prized possession?

I’d say that my most prized possession is my song journal. I have many interests, but overall, I’ve always loved music. Ever since I was little, I loved to sing, whether I was belting out solos in my elementary school choir, or following along to the radio in the car. Eventually, this led to me composing my own songs in my journal.

I have never really kept an ordinary diary before. Rather than writing prompts about my day or a crush that I may have, this journal consisted of poems, possible song titles, or random verses that I’d come up with throughout the day. Still, it has the same purpose as any diary: to express my feelings and get things off my chest. Throughout my life, I’ve found that music allows me to express feelings that ordinary words cannot. My journal reveals only part of these emotions, and only when played to music are my innermost thoughts revealed. The journals I’ve kept over the years are very important to me and always will be.

here's a similar version to what my current journal looks like!

Classmate Intro: What is your favorite childhood memory? / What are three things you like about yourself?

I asked Isabella what her favorite childhood memory was, and she told me about a day in Manhattan with her dad. She had always wanted an American girl doll, and she and her dad went to the store together. Everything was pink, and her dad let her pick out whatever she wanted. They went crazy in the store, and spent more than 5K. She still has the dolls today.

I asked Cynthia what are three things that she likes about herself. She proceeded to tell me that she likes that she is outgoing, warm, and creative. We didn’t speak long, but as I got to know her, she definitely came across as a kind and interesting person, and definitely seems to match these qualities.

  1. I definitely want to hear some of your poems and verses! I don’t do poetry or music, but I occasionally write in my diary. And I agree with you that writing is a nice way to put out our thoughts and express our feelings.
