My 3 passions have changed through time as I’ve found myself in different points in my life. Though there does seem to be some recurring themes. My family, books, and exploring the unknown. They all drive me and are the reason I am the way I am.
My family. They drive me mental 75% of the time but it’s the other 25% that actually matters. Not only did they raise me, they provided me with unique experiences from a young age and exposed me to so many amazing things and places. I’m not only talking about my blood family, I am also talking about the close family friends who basically raised me and called me their niece or granddaughter. Family is more than just sharing DNA, it’s about knowing and loving someone. It’s anything and everything for them.
My books. I only really got into reading in the 7th grade but ever since then I’ve been obsessed with them. They provide an escape from whatever is going on in my life. I can always unwind with a good book. From Jane Austen, The Brontë Sisters, Victor Hugo to Stephanie Meyer and everything in between. Being bilingual also opened up an entire new selection of books. They say books aren’t for everyone but I think it just takes one book to change your mind, thats how it was with me.
Exploring the unknown. It’s scary at times, but I have this need to know things, I’ve calmed down on asking “why” when it comes to things I probably won’t get answers to. However, when it comes to trying new things, I’m all for it, as long as I’m with good company. I’m very “I jump if you jump” when it comes to that. How will I know unless I try it out? I can’t just live in fear of the unknown. I have to face it.
This is how I live my life. Loving my family, escaping into my books, and exploring the unknown. It’s working so far. But who knows, maybe it’ll change in a couple of years.
Hey, your passions are very interesting. I normally do not read books but you are right about that it only takes one book to change a persons mind. I believe that people need to find books that interest them, like for example for me I love books that leave some type of lesson that you can use in life. We also have the willingness to explored the unknown in common. I am always down to try anything new.
Hey Ms. Astudillo, I find your passions quite relatable because I also find my family something to be passionate about and I like how you mentioned how family doesn’t necessarily have to be blood-related because I believe that’s true. I also like how you like to explore the “unknown” because that’s something I’ve been wanting to do but haven’t had people to do it with. Exploring abandoned places and anything like that are things I strive to explore one day.
