I learned a lot about the man who armed the BPP. His name was Richard Aoki. Aoki was active in a lot of political movements in San Francisco, and he played a key role for the BPP. Aoki was their arms dealer, and he also led the BPP in training programs. He seemed like a trust worthy guy, but Rosenfeld found out that he was an informant for the FBI. Rosenfeld did research on the FBI and started to learn more about Aoki and his role of being an informant. Aoki was a veteran, who served as an informant for a long time. They said that no one would ever suspect Aoki as being an informant inside the party, They said that he was perfect for learning a lot about the party. Aoki later killed himself, and their was no main file about Aoki, there was only a file that said he was an informant. Rosenfeld sued the FBI to release the info they had on Aoki, and the FBI still didnt release 4000 pages of info they have on Aoki. This was a very interesting and crazy thing to learn about the man who armed the BPP. While watching this I was thinking about how the FBI had insiders in all the parties that played crucial roles for the parties, which means that the FBI knew a lot from the inside of the party. Also the FBI is hiding documents that they have on Aoki, and not telling us the full story.

I think its pretty interesting the story about Richard Aoki. I have always known during the 1950-1970s, the FBI had a lot of people watched, and tapped through telephones but never expected an actual informant. Hopefully they release the documents one day as this is very interesting.
This is genuinely interesting to find out the influence and power that the FBI had around various people and influential groups this busy era of movements in America and how even one of the most trusted men inside one of the biggest radical groups of the time turned out to be a spy of the FBI. It’s crazy to believe how skillful they are on gathering information through people such as Richard Aoki.
I also watched the video on Richard Aoki. I still wonder why Aoki was one of the few informants in the report whose name was not blacked out? And why the FBI lied about releasing the files about Aoki.
I watched this film too. It was super intriguing and the actions of the FBI left me puzzled.
