After watching both clips about the Black Panthers, I understand the large knowledge gap many people have regarding what the goal of the Black Panthers truly was. Many people assume that the Black Panthers were a radical group that was violent against the people who were oppressing them. On the contrary, the Black Panthers was a group that focused on embracing black power to try and restore balance to the areas in which the African American community was oppressed. The clip I watched expressed people’s misconception regarding the overall goal that the Panthers had. In the film that was discussed, music and other cultural factors were used to characterize the Panthers and the purpose they had as a community. As I was watching, I couldn’t help but relate to the fact of people in our society attempting to classify people and groups without a sufficient understanding to make these classifications. The main problem I saw is true not only for the Panthers, but also anything that people nowadays don’t completely understand. Society now doesn’t make fact-based claims, yet claims that have no foundation or credibility. With proper research, it can be concluded that the Panthers had no malintent during the time when they were most popular. Instead, they only wanted to restore balance to an unjust and racist America.

The way you described the doc would be exactly how I would describe it good job.
Hey, I agree with you many people did not really understand the Black Panthers, all they wanted was to end the bad treatment they were receiving. You are definitely right that society does not make fact based claims, there is always misinformation spread rapidly
I like how you mentioned that people in our society attempt to classify people and groups without a sufficient understanding, leading often to unjust stereotypes and a bad light being painted by mainstream media. Its extremely unfair that the loud immoral voices are able to place themselves onto a pedestal and be able to glamorized.
