The film I watched was “These Women Were the Unsung Heroes of the Black Panther Party”. In the film they talked about Elaine Brown, Kathleen Cleaver, and Angela Davis. The first woman, Elaine Brown, the Black Panther’s chairwoman from 1974 to 1977. Some notable things she’s done was write a book called “A Taste of Power” which is a memoir about her life. She has also founded non-profits in hopes of bettering the justice system such as the National Alliance for Radical Prison Reform(NARPR), and Oakland and the World Enterprises (OWA). The second woman, Kathleen Cleaver, was one of the people who helped Huey P. Newton get out of prison. She Now teaches at Yale University. The third woman, Angela Davis, has worked with Che-Lumumba Club, a communist organization. She’s written many books such as “Woman, Race and Class” and ‘Are Prisons Obsolete?”. She is a professor at the University of California.

I think it would be very interesting and enlightening to read the books that you mentioned these women have written. It would probably bring awareness to many things that happened in the past that were hidden from the public and that may still be happening in the world right now.
Hi! I didn’t choose that video so it was very nice to learn another perspective. One of the things I didn’t realize was how influential women were to the party. The video I watched was about Cleaver and her perspective which was so amazing to me. I agree with Valeriya that reading these books will spread awareness.
I think it’s Interesting how so many women were involved in the Black Panther Party. It goes to show us that everybody has a voice when it comes to social injustice. I think that the perspectives that these amazing women bring us can teach us many life lessons and we can apply their lessons to the social situations present today
I also saw this video and its disappointing to see how key females who knew what they were doing where undervalued.
I also saw this video and I agree with you how influential Women were to this movement. It goes on to show how important they are.
I also watched this video and I really like how it sheds like on the impact these women had on the BPP. I also love how the video also provides insight on their involvement in the civil rights movement along with their work outside of the BPP.
