Film Review

I watched “New Black Panthers | National Geographic,” and it was a video that highlighted the United States history of inequality towards its Black citizens since its founding, including the dehumanizing three-fifths compromise, where black citizens were only counted as 3/5 of a white citizen. This video also illustrated the irony of July 4th being celebrated as Independence Day, which signified freedom only for white people, while further entrenching Black individuals in the deep chains of exploitation. The thought of creating a bill of rights that protects the freedom and rights of everyone, instead being a bill of privilege only for the select few that have the certain whiteness to claim those privilege.
