Film Review

“These Women Were the Unsung Heroes of the Black Panther Party” was the movie I choose to see. This movie piqued my curiosity because, although women were an integral component of the party, they are often overlooked by men in historical accounts. Seeing how much of an influence they still have as teachers, writers, and public speakers on our modern culture was very encouraging. I adore how all of the ladies persisted in fighting for and speaking out against the inequities that our existing institutions perpetuate, even in the face of the party’s collapse and seeming “improvement” in our society. Despite the brief length of the film, I learned a lot more about the Black Panther Party and its key figures.

  1. It’s interesting how although women weren’t seen as crucial to the Black Panther Party they played a big role and made a big impact.
