Finial Reflection

In the beginning of the year we started of with our rhetorical analysis essay, where we compared the BLM movement to the Black Panther Party. In that project I compare the programs the BPP had to BLM to see if they’re similar or not. I realized while I was doing it that even though at first glance you might think something will be easy to compare, you might have a hard time finding any evidence to back it up. Our second project was the research based argument essay, where we talked about gender bias in Wikipedia. That project made me realize how very little women are represented on Wikipedia. I never noticed that there wasn’t much information on some women when using it. That project made me realize how not everything or everyone is going to have lots of information about them out there. For the woman in red I chose it took me a while just to find out her birthday

The piece of writing I’m most proud of is the Women in Red project. I’m proud that I was able to get the information I did because I did it about a foreign actress so she won’t be as well known as any American actresses. I learned a lot about gender bias on Wikipedia. I wish the writing was a little better because I know I could do better but overall I’m happy how it turned out. I haven’t developed a style yet but I’m sure that in the future I will.

The first project we did was one I struggled with a lot. I’m not sure if it was because of the topic or because I haven’t written since last semester but my writing quality was very bad. When I chose what to compare about the two groups, I thought it would be easy to find information, but I couldn’t really find a lot for the BLM movement. Any sources I did try and find led me back to the same one again and again. Because of this, I’ll take into consideration that if I can’t find any information for a future project, I could try and pick an easier thing to compare.
