For project 3, I will be working by myself. I decided to turn my first project of the semester into a episode of a podcast. In my first project, I compared the Black Lives Matter movement and the Black Panther Party. I specifically focused on the actions they took to gain more support and expand their party. Turning the essay into a podcast would allow me to have a more conversational medium and will allow me to have more emotion that could be hard to capture in text. I also plan on adding some background music and making a cover that would match the main point.
The change in medium may change the message because it will be more about informing how to advocate rather than just learning about the two groups. Unlike the essay where I am solely just comparing the BPP and the BLM movement, the podcast would do less comparing and instead show listeners how we as a people can advocate against oppression within our society. The podcast is about learning about different ways people have advocated for an issue (using BPP and BLM as an example) and how we can adopt those ways today in order to fight against any form of oppression that is prevalent. What will be challenging is having that conversational quality. But I will try to overcome this by acting like I am just talking to someone rather than just reading off something. The reason why I choose to do a podcast is because it is something that I always wanted to do. I also believe it is the most engaging and easy to understand. I chose project 1 and using it to show examples on how people can become a advocate today because we are in a time where oppression and discrimination is so common. Everyone should take these examples and implement it into their own life and use their voices to advocate against issues in our society.
A podcast covering the different means both parties took in different eras is interesting. It will allow the audience to learn each of the parties’ approaches to getting their views heard considering the environment they were on.
A podcast is really creative. Especially to turn it into more of a conversation possibly enabling counter arguments to your claim.
