Reflecting on the struggles of disadvantaged communities, particularly people of color, reveals the deep-seated and ongoing consequences of historical injustices. My thesis delves into the intense suffering and relentless hardships these communities endure in their quest for social change. By examining movements such as the Black Panther Party, La Trinitaria, and Black Lives Matter (BLM), I highlight both the challenges they face and their resilience. The Black Panther Party, often demonized by figures such as the FBI, exemplifies how systemic forces attempt to discredit and dismantle resistance efforts. Similarly, La Trinitaria’s battle for fundamental rights mirrors BLM’s contemporary fight against racial injustice.
Even while detractors usually highlight tumultuous and contentious times within these movements, it’s important to remember that tyranny naturally gives rise to resistance. The seldom violent acts committed by these movements do not fully represent their overall goals. Rather, they emphasize the necessity and validity of their more general objectives, which include equality, justice, and structural transformation.
My goal in writing this thesis is to highlight the incredible fortitude and everlasting resolve of those who have battled and are still fighting against injustice and persecution. Their experiences serve as a tribute to the perseverance of resistance and the unwavering quest of social justice.
