I’ve learned a lot about 3-D printing so far this semester and I was exposed to different areas about 3-D printing from being able to knowledge about the history about 3-D printing to having the knowledge to create a design. It is interesting how I was able to grow as a artist because of this class and was able to be more open minded for my approach to new ideas and concepts. This class has made me realized that there are endless possibilities and ideas that we can create but it is how we have our take on it and being able to think different and out of the “box”.
Some of the challenges I have faced would be learning how to work on sketch up and learning how to use the tools in order to create my personal designs. It was difficult knowing how we are able to create a design but the calculations and work that needs to be done in order to ensure the printing can be done is very troublesome. I was able to focus on that area of focus and understand the thickness and platform of the design would affect the printing as a whole.
My strengths would be the ability to gather up ideas and think beyond the ordinary for my designs and being able to present on my concepts and why I created the design one way or the other. I really like working with my group and being able to brainstorm and come up with ideas together because I truly value team work.
