Goal & Perseverance

This week so far has been not been that good as I got swatted with a bunch of assignments and have prepared for another math exam tomorrow. Although my family does celebrate thanksgiving I do not mind the day off as it will help me get some sleep. But if you do celebrate thanksgiving then happy thanksgiving to you. Hopefully, your weekend goes better than mine. Overall I should be able to persevere through this mountain of assignments although I worry it might not be the best of my work as it is very much time-consuming.

In my opinion, people do not have to be naturally gifted to be good writers as I was not naturally a gifter but I can put on some decent work. In my experience, I have seen many of my colleagues struggle with writing but what got them out of the struggle is consistency as the more they wrote the better they got. This also worked for me as I did not have proper English like 5 years ago but now I am writing at a college level. Being persistent is a good mentality but to also explore other strategies is also something people should be open to. I would not consider myself a good writer rather one that is learning on a daily basis. Although I have a special place in my heart for writing sometimes if I do not like a theme I will become lazy. So my goal going forward is to be able to adapt to different readings and situations better than now.

Week 13 Almost There

This week so far has been quite great for me as it was less stressful than last week so that’s something always great to say. One thing that almost became a problem for me was my math homework as there was so much of it but I got through it so that’s always great. What I am really looking forward to this weekend is hanging out with my friends which is always fun. Overall, this week has gone pretty smoothly if I am honest, but I have a strong feeling that it will get difficult next week and in the last stretch of this semester. But I am really looking forward to the winter break.

When I first read that we were doing a research project, I thought of answering a prompt using different excerpts, which were quite a point. What surprised me is the specificity of the prompt development as it needed a touch of uniqueness and target audience. That confused me a bit as I am used to making simple and answering straightforward prompts. I personally would say that is where I fell short but I reached out and received help so that was wonderful. This was not that exciting for me as it involved doing a lot of research and reading which are all components of my laziness. I just hope I meet the proper standards while I polish up my final work.

M-E-A-L ( not food )

This week so far has been wonderful for me as I found out I did wonderful in my maths exam which I took last week. So I am very happy about that but also this week I took a psychology exam which I am a bit skeptical about but time will tell. Well, those are the things that have gone well for me but I am worried about is my English paper as I am sure I will have to make a lot of changes to make it better it will be so time-consuming. I am also very excited because the fall semester is almost over so finally when I go into winter break I can sleep as much as I want. Overall this week has not been very bad except for my math class which was wonderful but other than that it was pretty average.

The M-E-A-L plan is an ideal strategy that helps you with paragraph structure and establishes a connection with your writing. For my thesis, I used M-E-A-L to make sure my starting/thesis has credible support so the thesis is taken seriously. The distribution of information in my essay is pretty good or in my opinion, it is at least. I explored different types of strategies/authors’ choice of tone and many others to keep my audience engaged in something new so they understand my perspective better. That way there are few complications. There were paragraphs in my essay where I forgot to input evidence but I compensated that by taking a higher point of view more like an author’s point of view to show emphasis and make a connection with my audience. I was able to implement M-E-A-L in almost all of my paragraphs which worked wonderfully but there were those where I could not implement M-E-A-L because it would have been too dull repeating similar concepts. But for those, I used personal perspective and emphasis to compensate.

Synthesis of Information

This week so far has not been so great, to be honest as I was basically butchered with assignments. Not only that I also had a math exam this Tuesday which I am sure I did well in or hoping so I did. I need to start studying for my psychology exam which is this Wednesday so that is something I am honestly not looking forward to. One thing I was able to finish this week is a rough draft for my English research paper. It was not hard rather just long and time-consuming. Overall this week has not to beat my personal record of my worst weeks in Baruch so I guess that’s something to reflect on in the future. But I am glad this week is over I am another week close to my winter break.

Senior of high school was quite complicated for me as I did not know what I wanted to study attending college. So synthesizing information helped me out a lot as it helped me question what I wanted. I started looking at review papers of various different colleges to best align my life goals. I choose Baruch by reading about this college on many different social media platforms and magazines. So I was able to use those sources of information to better understand college and their values. If I had to describe this process visually it would look something like a pros and cons chart but also ideas just flowing around my mind. I experienced a lot of unanswered questions in a source but I was able to get those answers from a different source that had covered the same topic. The different sources help me put together an organized synthesis of just full out information which helps me tremendously as it put my plans to attend Baruch in motion.
