Animals are faced with abuse from their domesticated owners as well as in animal testing conditions. The most common victims of animal abuse that are most often reported according to the Humane Society are “dogs, cats, horses and livestock.” Specifically, of “1,880 cruelty cases reported in the media in 2007, 64.5 percent (1,212) involved dogs (25 percent of these were identified as pit-bull-type breeds, 18 percent (337) involved cat [and] 25 percent (470) involved other animals.” For example, in 2014, a group of teens video recorded themselves burning an alive newborn kitten using flammable spray and matches. These cases show the inhumane treatment and lack of consideration for animals by humans in everyday interactions.
