I have created a multimedia project inspired by my research based argument on first generation college students.  Creating this video I wanted to reach out to other students like me, and get the attention of educators. This project being screened in class is a good way to show my message to the students, who would have otherwise missed it on paper.  My purpose here is to call attention to the disadvantage that these students are placed in. These could be extremely intelligent and hard working students who are not given the proper resources to flourish. Given the right opportunities, these students could become important people in society; people with a different outlook. My goal here is to make people more aware of this constant dynamic. I think that stories and testimonies of people who have experienced this is a very powerful way to persuade people. People pay attention when someone is telling their story, and it moves them. I thought that my voice over would be more effective than text being drowned out by music, and people tend to listen to voices more than read because that requires less work for the audience.  I tried my best to make this as clean as possible in terms of editing, but I am a novice at video editing even as easy as we video makes it. My biggest challenge was finding the right images to put in the background of my voice over. I decided some videos without the sound bytes would do well, but this took a lot of work of cutting and muting the videos. I really like the way the voice over over the videos turned out, and the crispness of the sound. I think my thesis/ and argument is very clear, mainly due to the convenience of voice over. I want my reviewers to focus on the watchability, plain and simple. What was awkward and could have been augmented, or how to make it smoother. My main concern is the background for my voice over. If anyone has any suggestions on how I could create a better background during my voice over, to make it more effective and enjoyable that would be great. PS i’m aware the video ends abruptly and I need to add music to some of the text portions.
