Where Have You Been and Where Are You Going?

My name is Shlomit Cynthia Bassalian. I live in a Jewish neighborhood, Great Neck. The most important things to me are my religion and family. When I was ten-years-old and went to Israel for my older brothers Bar Mitzvah, I wrote a wish on a piece of paper and slipped it through the cracks of the Holy Wall. One month after, my mom told me that she was pregnant and, my wish had come true. Ever since that point in life, my faith has been completely certain. It is not that I was never untruthful to Judaism, however I always had a bit of skepticism that was ultimately turned down once my baby brother was born. Also, I love my family. Specifically, my 24 year-old brother have a certain connection and we even have the same birthday. I am the closest with him and trust and love him more than anything in the world. There are other things that have much importance to me.

School is another one of my top priorities. Although it may sound a bit nerdy but I love to be in class and even do homework. I find it very therapeutic when I do work because I am able to focus on only one thing. As a college student, I expect my horizons to be widened beyond belief as I am placed in a new diverse culture. I want to study abroad especially as I learn about the world. Although the work seems manageable now, I do expect it to get a lot harder as the semesters pass by. For the first semester in specific, I just hope to get on a good start and keep my averages high so my studying habits will be built in, especially when the courses get much more difficult.
