In the Baruch community I primarily see myself as a scholar who desires to learn and absorb information both individually and with others as well as both in and outside the classroom. I am also a serious athlete dedicated to her team and willing to work for long hours in order to achieve the team’s main goal. Athletics overlap with my school, so much so, that I have quickly discovered that I go to school not only to make friends, but to make lifelong connections with my peers, while working to administer my skills and allow them to grow and develop naturally in the Baruch academic and social environment. Additionally, being connected to such a large web of other Baruch students serves as a useful catalyst that allows for me to build on forming this foundation of aptitude. More specifically, since I am in the Honors program it is my goal to take advantage of all the opportunities provided for me, such as waived tuition, laptop, and a tighter relationship with my adviser. Having these advantages places me in a unique spot in Baruch, so that I can more readily accomplish my goals in the academic and athletic worlds. My role currently is, and should be, to assess my peers and teachers and attempt to assist them in any way possible and vice versa. The Honors program prides itself in promoting the fundamentals of team building while simultaneously establishing trust and stabilizing stressful environments. In terms of the larger community, I hope to be able to assist the group I am volunteering for. While, it is only a mere 8 hours, the experience will hopefully be priceless and effective for the community.
