As Baruch Scholars in the Honors Program, we are granted many privileges and opportunities that other students may not have been offered. Because of this, we should show our gratitude not only by thanking our scholarship donors for lifting this financial burden off our shoulders, but by also giving back to our community and to those who may need our help, as well. As Baruch Scholars, we should engage in Baruch activities to better our school. as well as ourselves. As Baruch Scholars, community service should not be something we are forced to do, but rather something we are glad to perform. There are many organizations out there that promote a good cause and need our help, and we should be more then happy to perform these duties, because not only will it benefit them, but it will benefit ourselves, as well. We may learn something that a textbook or class, might have never been able to teach us, such as certain valuable life lessons. This all ties into the culture of service the honors program promotes. Overall, community service is an important aspect to college life, because it not only gives us the opportunity to lend a helping hand, but it also allows us to learn through experiences we might not have faced otherwise therefore allowing us to grow as individuals.
