Journal # 2

My role in Baruch and the boarder community as an honors student is to set an example for those around me. The successes of individuals can serve as a good motivator for those who happen to be around those same individuals. The successes of people can rub off in a positive way on those who are not quite there yet in realizing their potential. In my perspective, I feel that having seen the successes of people around me, I only became more adept and skilled in my activities. To me, this is what one’s role should be in a community. I feel helping out at a library is important for people who love to learn. Reading is a great way to enjoy something and to learn at the same time.

If I am able to perform academic and personal achievements that would be a reach for me, I feel that it can help those around me see that dreams can be realized with a bit of luck and hard work. I also want to help people with their goals because I feel that goals serve as a very important part of one’s life. Realizing one’s goals can be an exhilarating experience that sets the foundation for a great life. I want people to be able to live the life they want if they are sincere in their intentions. Anything is possible if it is within reason and if enough persistence and work is put forth.

I feel the Honors Program is a supportive environment where the successes of one another help the successes of everyone. Mr. Medina and Amanda have been very helpful and I feel the students in the program are supportive of each other as well. I feel that academic successes of the students in the program are helped along with their interests. It is clear that the students are talented in various ways that do not concern only academia.

The Honors Program is strong academically but also focuses on the students as community members and as people who are well rounded.
