Journal Entry Three

This LC has been a tremendous help with guiding my group and I with our Community Service project. Both you, Mr. Medina and John have been very helpful through each and every step. John has been very supportive and caring by reading all our work and commenting on ways we can improve and helping us keep up with deadlines, which I felt at first were a little overwhelming. I also found the guest speakers to be really useful, because of their advice and experiences with the same things I am going through. The library has also facilitated the process through the databases and through the help of the library staff such as Stephen, who showed us how to use the database to search for volunteer and not-for-profit organizations. I have found that the library databases are extremely helpful and easy to use. I feel like I have a big edge in my other courses and my future in Baruch, largely due to the help of this LC. The close-knit and one on one attention is a great advantage, which I am very thankful for. Although, I have been volunteering at Coney Island Hospital (the Community Service project we chose) for the past four years, through this project I learned a lot of new and interesting facts that I didn’t know about earlier. I learned about new units and programs that the hospital offers, the history, and the patient relationship to the hospital staff. I am looking forward to volunteering there with my group!
