Journal Entry #3

Although it seems like everything is over with the semester coming close, I was really able to understand when thinking about this journal entry assignment that it is just the beginning. We are only at the end of our very first semester at Baruch College. I’m sure we can all agree that the semester was absolutely phenomenal and we really learned quite a bit. First and foremost I would like to thank our two guides for the semester: Mr. Medina and John. You both have been an immense help to our LC in the steps we took throughout our first semester. I believe that your largest input in our education was the idea of the community service project proposal. We get all the learning and knowledge we need inside our classrooms for core subjects but this community service project has truly given our education a new edge. Although I am sure everyone agrees, I will speak for myself and say that I was able to understand how vitally important it is to give back to our community. We are very fortunate to have all the privileges that we do as part of being Baruch Scholars but it is crucial to remember those who are not as privileged as us and to give back to them. Everyone essentially deserves the right to the kind of fantastic treatment we receive here in the Baruch community and it is each and every one of our responsibilities to go out into the bigger world and spread the spirit that we are being enriched and infiltrated with at Baruch. I would also like to thank Mr. Stephen Francouer of the Newman Library for assisting us with our search for an organization to work with. Stephen’s service is just one example out of a vast amount that displays what Baruch does for us and what it encourages us to do for others. In the spirit of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I thank the Baruch community for an excellently progressing first semester as well as spectacular guidance and opportunities!
