Another Day

Today I went to Baruch for the usual Wednesday physical training routine. There’s no doubt in my mind that I am getting stronger. It’s hard to make a workout schedule around practice days and Wed. workouts. Played indoors today. Found a cure to my backhand’s recent cold. Like all tennis players myself especially we have slumps. Slumps where our technique just seems different and can’t understand why. Well today I found my Tylenol. I was reminded of my dear coach Al. He taught me the basics, the fundamentals, the foundation of tennis. I remember he said to me[on how to hit a backhand] “In our days we described it as airing out the armpit” and proceeded to show me it. He demonstrated how you completely show your armpit to the other side of the court. It definitely showed me glimpses of my previously dominant backhand. More practice is needed so I don’t forget this feeling and motion. Anyway back to the the weight lifting. I should write this down somewhere so I can be more organized.

Sunday- Arms: Tricep Extensions and Dips, Bicep Curls(Barbell and dumbbell)

Monday-Shoulders: Lateral raises, Shoulder Press, Arm Circles(Weighted and not weighted), Pulling weight to chin(Forgot what it’s called)

Tuesday-Legs: Leg Extensions(Quads), Leg curls(Hamstrings), Squats, Calf Raises

Wednesday-Chest: Bench press, Inclined press, Declined press, Clap Pushup(Max), Push ups(Max)

Thursday-Back: Seated Row(3 grips), Lat pull downs, Hyperextensions, Pull-ups(Max)

Friday-Tennis entire day

Saturday-Rest

Everyday: Jump Rope 20 minutes.

Sunday, Wednesday: In addition to the workout, Abs. Twisting sit-ups on the decline.

Whew…I hope I don’t overdue it. I’ve done this routine the past year without the jump roping for the past year but with the everything shifted down the days and I was fine. Got to stay in shape for the coming season! Technique gets you to the professionals, Strength gets you to the top 100 and Mentality will get you to the top 10. After succeeding everyone else in these three things you’re known as a legend! :-D
