Damon Ye’s Journal Entry #2

There are several ways to serve ones community. The most obvious way to do the community a service is through donations and volunteer work. I believe there is another way to benefit the community. To better a community one could also invest his or her time within occupations such as pediatricians, firemen, policemen, and many more. As an honor student I will attempt to do both kinds of community service.

The culture surrounding the Baruch Honors Program itself promotes community service. Being selected in this program already shows that we, Baruch Scholars,  are well rounded in many areas. As Baruch Scholars we are given the opportunity to become future leaders in business, mathematics, science, and arts. This Community Service Program offers us the opportunity to fully experience what it takes to be a leader and prepares us for the future fields we plan to excel in.

With the enormous scholarship Baruch College gives us it is only right that we give something back in return. In more ways than one, we could provide services for Baruch itself. By creating new clubs, keeping the campus clean, and simple random acts of kindness we can make the community surrounding Baruch even more comfortable than it already is. We Baruch Scholars, through our community service, will make sure that tomorrow will be a better day.
