Where Have You Been and Where Are You Going?

I was born in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic and moved to New York for the first time when I was 3. I have one brother, Marvin, who is 11, and one sister, Brenda, who is 9. They are very annoying, but I cant say I would be the same person I am today without them— they have taught me so much. I live with both of my parents, Soriano and Leocadia Moreno in Inwood, located in Upper Manhattan. One of the major aspects of my life is helping other people learn about the Bible, along with my family who are Jehovah’s Witnesses.

As with most honors students, my biggest concern this first semester is keeping my grades high enough to stay in the program. Even though constantly worrying about this can be quite stressing, I’m trying to look at the positive aspects of college.

One of the best things about college is the education I’m receiving. Unlike high school, what goes on inside the classrooms does not revolve around a series of standardized tests everyone has to pass. We are looking at the world that we’ve always had in front of our eyes with a fresh perspective and learning what we need to face the world as well rounded adults.  I hope that throughout the rest of my four years in college I continue to learn not only what I need to know for my intended major in computer information systems, but also about the cultures and businesses of the world that even New York City cant expose me to.
