I’ve pretty much lived in Long Island my whole time. I guess you can say that I’ve lived a sheltered life, and haven’t really experienced all that there is to experience. So living in the “burbs” has had a great impact on my life, and I guess living in this type of area also means that certain values are instilled in me although I’m not sure what they exactly are.Obviously my parents have also shaped me, and have attempted to instill certain values in me, although lately I have been forming some of my own opinions which happen to be the exact opposite of theirs. However there is one belief that was taught to me by my parents that I will never forget and that is the value of hard-work, and I would like to credit my parents for setting an example for me.
My decision to go to Baruch was based on my wish to see the world from a new perspective. I was sick and tired of life in the suburbs and wanted to be in the city. Although the commute is really annoying, I feel that it is well worth it to be in Manhattan. I expect college to be a lot of hard work, but that doesn’t mean that it cant be fun. I’m really concerned about the last month or so of the semester where all my finals and final projects will be due, and I will feel swamped and overwhelmed. However I’m hoping that it wont be too bad and that I can handle it. Whatever happens I do intend on making my college experience both exciting and memorable.
