At the Nov. 18 Brand Yourself for Success event, part of the 2011–12 Financial Women’s Association mentoring program, Diane Baranello (second from left) advised students to become aware of, build, and manage an authentic personal brand. “A personal brand is built on distinction, reputation, and perception,” she explained. “We each have a unique personal brand whether we know it or not. Our brand is like a fingerprint. No two are alike.” Baranello also spoke at the April 2011 EOC Job$mart Career Hour.

“People are often surprised to learn the considerable number of non-alumni who are passionate about working with Baruch students through the College’s Executives On Campus (EOC) program,” says Jacqueline McLoughlin, Baruch’s EOC director. “EOC members—successful leaders in business, government, and nonprofits—provide practical, real-world experience to help current students develop a better understanding of their goals and the professional environment in which they will work.”

One such steadfast EOC supporter is Diane Baranello, a career coach and corporate trainer with extensive experience in the financial services sector and president of Coaching for Distinction.

Baranello isn’t a Baruch alumna but her passion for the College is evident in her commitment to many student-centered initiatives. “As a result of working with Baruch students, I’ve developed a keen interest in coaching emerging leaders to be confident communicators, powerful networkers, and brand-savvy business professionals,” she says.

In 2005 she was invited to join EOC and its Executive-Student Partnership (ESP) by former Baruch President Kathleen Waldron. The two had been colleagues at the Citigroup Private Bank when Baranello was training director for Latin America and later global curriculum head for Private Bank University.

Baranello has mentored Baruch students and facilitated numerous communications, networking, and personal pitch events throughout Baruch, including events through the Zicklin School of Business, Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, and Starr Career Development Center’s Wall Street Career Program.
