Michael Legatt is a senior human factors engineer for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). He used his PhD specialization in the neuropsychology of visual attention—and his studies of human-computer interaction—to help develop a prototype for a monitoring and visualization system for ERCOT’s control-room operators. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in power systems engineering from University of Texas.

Diane Arneth (MPA) is the co-chair of the Staten Island Partnership for Community Wellness, a steering committee and board member of the Staten Island Not-for-Profit Association, and a community co-chair of the HIV Health and Human Services Planning Council of New York, in addition to involvement in other civic activities. After working 17 years in the public sector, Guimel Martinez started his own business, Florida State Management, in Coral Gables, Fla. Wayne Richardson (MS) has been appointed to the board of directors of Pediatric Prosthetics Inc. He is the CFO for Marathon Health Care Corp., which was recently acquired by Pediatric Prosthetics. Brian Stimpfl (MBA) has joined software and solutions firm ActiFi, Inc., as senior VP for relationship management, responsible for the company’s global growth strategy. Stimpfl previously worked in the financial services industry, most recently as managing director of TD Ameritrade Institutional. Boris Sturman has been promoted to VP of finance at CityView, an institutional investment firm focused on urban real estate, housing, and infrastructure. He joined the company in 2004.

Since February 2009, Scott Aronowitz has been an assistant VP/claims counsel at Fidelity National Title Group, Inc., in Jacksonville, Fla. John Gomes (MBA) has joined Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate as executive VP, after serving as VP at CORE. He is a member of the cast of HGTV reality show Selling New York. Matt Streem (MBA) has created a new line of organizational products under the brand name Contact Keeper, available in Office Depot and FedEx stores. The product offers a simple solution to the problem of organizing business cards and notes.

Howard Leung (MS) was elected to the partnership of J.H. Cohn LLP, the audit, tax, and business advisory firm. A resident of Brooklyn, Leung serves as New York office leader of the firm’s real estate industry practice. Kaleem Qureshi is the first Baruch graduate to be accepted into Abbott Labs’ Management Development Program (MDP), which normally seeks out top graduating MBAs to groom for management positions. Qureshi, already an Abbott employee, currently works in finance. He also has a senior leadership role with the Baruch Recruiting Team.

Matthew Silverstein is the current president of the New York State Young Democrats, a position he has held since 2008. Ramón Emilio Valet, a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, mentors Baruch students and serves on the board of the Baruch Young Alumni Network (BYAN). Valet, who has over six years of financial advisory experience, also serves on the board of directors of the New York chapter of ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting). Julio A. Ayala graduated in May with an MSEd in rehabilitation counseling. He has been volunteering at the Learning Disability Support Center since 2004. Jiri “George” Cermak, a graduate of the first class of the Macaulay Honors College at Baruch, has worked as an analyst at Bear Stearns and as a trade support/operations associate at Taconic Capital Advisors. Currently an MBA candidate at Fordham University, Cermak is chair of the Macaulay Alumni Giving Campaign. Megan Joyce recently became a fixed income trader for Jane Street Capital. She was married to Christopher Keating in 2009. Rachel Matzkin Kimmelblatt (MPA) has been appointed chief development officer for the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation. Previously she was director of major gifts at the University of Connecticut Foundation, Inc. A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Ian Rasmussen practices real estate law with the law offices of Marvin B. Mitzner, where he focuses on land use and zoning. A founder of the mapping and graphic design firm Urban Cartographics, Rasmussen resides in Forest Hills Gardens, N.Y., with his wife, Erika. Chun Wong (MFE ’05) led the search for the 2011 winner of the Salih Neftci Memorial Scholarship, honoring the longtime Master of Financial Engineering professor. David Cuddihy (MFE ’04) and Tom Suehr (MFE ’05) were also key scholarship committee members. Winner Yingxue Li (MFE ’11) impressed the award committee with his knowledge of current financial events and foreign markets.

George Smith (MS) has joined Infogroup, a provider of data-driven and interactive resources for sales, marketing, and research solutions, as VP of compensation and benefits, human resource information systems, and payroll. Previously he was executive director of compensation and HR analytics for Kaplan Test Prep.

Mindy Jerome is senior development executive for the Bridges Campaign of the UJA–Federation of New York. Julio Lizarazo (MBA) is the general manager of the Gracious Home flagship store on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. A 15-year employee of the company, Lizarazo met his wife, Carla (a Gracious Home decorative-accessories buyer), at work over a decade ago. Jenny McGahee recently became an office manager at Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga. She previously worked at FOX News.

Maritza Alarcon was honored by Glamour magazine as one of “20 Amazing Young Women Who Are Already Changing the World” for her work with Motivation Opportunity Viability Enterprise, Inc. (MOVE), a youth organization she co-founded that aims to increase matriculation rates at N.Y.C. public schools. Her story was picked up on various blogs, including the Huffington Post. Abdoulaye Bah is assistant manager of the Human Resources Department as time and labor analyst for Fairway Market Group Holdings Corp. Fordham University Assistant Professor of Marketing Luke Kachersky (PhD) has been named the 2011 Outstanding Marketing Teacher of the Year by the Academy of Marketing Science (AMS). His previous honors include the 2010 Cura Personalis Award and the 2009 Marketing Area Teaching Excellence Award. Kachersky joined the Fordham faculty in 2008.

Johnathan Logan (MPA) is director of the Marin City (Calif.) Community Services District, which includes the Manzanita Community Center, the cultural heart of the community and a hub of activities for young people. Previously he completed a National Urban Fellowship that included working with Ron Sims, deputy secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
