School of Public Affairs Associate Professor John Casey (MPA) returned to Baruch College after 17 years as a public sector and nonprofit executive in Australia and Spain. He has worked, researched, and taught in a number of fields, including nonprofit management, immigration policy, and policing. He recently wrote a series of three case studies that highlight the advocacy work of New York nonprofits.

Mary Di Fabio Foote (MPA) was a presenter and panelist at the 2011 Brownfields Conference this past April in Philadelphia, speaking on environmental justice and redevelopment strategy. She is currently a redevelopment supervisor for the City of Rock Hill, S.C. Pamela Livingston has been appointed product manager for the Live On Demand Professional Development program of Tutor.com. The model, which provides one-to-one support for math teachers, was funded through a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grant. Livingston is an adjunct professor at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia and at University of Massachusetts Boston. China Integrated Energy, Inc., has appointed Liren Wei director and member of the audit committee, the nominating and governance committee, and the compensation committee. Wei is managing partner and head of the China practice of Wei, Wei & Co., LLP, an accounting firm headquartered in New York City.

Dorothy C. Behrens has joined Abalos & Associates, PLLC, as a senior associate, handling tax compliance and research for businesses and individuals. She resides in Scottsdale, Ariz., with her husband and son. Allison Hickey has joined NAVTEC Media Solutions as New York sales manager, responsible for sale of location point mobile advertising initiatives.

Financial services firm Wall Street Access has named Charles Dugan (MBA) managing director of fixed income. He was previously a senior VP at the company. Spry Publishing CEO and publisher Jim Edwards (EMBA) has joined Vistage Michigan, a chapter of the global chief executive organization. Marco Habert is managing director in charge of household and personal care product investment banking coverage at Deutsche Bank. At the podium, to the right, Bernard Kilkelly (MBA), president of NIRI–New York (the founding chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute), rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Aug. 4, 2011. Yasmine L. Misuraca has joined accounting firm Marks Paneth & Shron LLP as a director in the Litigation and Corporate Financial Advisory Services Group. She is a specialist in forensic accounting, fraud investigations, securities litigation support, and economic damage analysis.

Congressman Michael Grimm (R-NY) was recently commended by the Humane Society for adopting a puppy rescued from a Missouri puppy mill. He is a co-sponsor of the Puppy Uniform Protection and Safety Act (H.R. 835), a.k.a. the PUPS Act, a bill cracking down on puppy mill abuses. He has also introduced the Veterans Dog Training Therapy Act (H.R. 198) to establish a program giving veterans the option of becoming therapeutic dog trainers.

Rita L. Garza (MPA/NUF) was recently named chief marketing and communications officer of Safe Horizon, a New York City–based nonprofit and the largest victims’ service agency in the U.S. Previously she was the senior director of corporate communications at the United Tennis Association. Bernard Gassaway (MSEd) has been principal of Boys & Girls High School in Brooklyn since 2009. Neeraj Malhotra has been appointed managing director, India, for LexisNexis, based out of the company’s India office in Gurgaon, Haryana. He was previously VP of Operations at PreMedia Global.

Jonathan Buffa (MPA) was appointed executive VP of client services for Access MediQuip, a provider of comprehensive surgical implant management solutions. He was previously VP of network account management and product development for National Imaging Associates. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has named Richard Paul chairman of the Financial Reporting Executive Committee. He is a partner in Deloitte & Touche LLP’s accounting standards and communications group at its Wilton, Conn., office. In October Touchstone/Simon & Schuster published Practical Genius: The Real Smarts You Need to Get Your Passions and Talents Working for You, by Gina Amaro Rudan (MPA/NUF). Rudan spoke to her fellow alumni at Baruch College Reunion 2011.

David Ganz (MBA) has been named chief marketing officer at Parsippany, N.J.–based Event Support Services Rx, an audiovisual satellite production and support company serving the financial services and pharmaceutical industries. Hong-Feng “Henry” Jia (MBA) is a senior director at Rothstein Kass, providing tax services to financial services clients. In June Arkadiy Tsinis won his first World Series of Poker bracelet after defeating a field of 2,192 players in the No-limit Hold ‘em event. Tsinis also plays backgammon and chess competitively.

Thomas Krever (EMPA) was featured on Dateline NBC special “My Kid Would Never Bully” as the show’s on-site expert. He serves as executive director of the Hetrick-Martin Institute in New York City.
