John Alesi

John Alesi has been promoted to head coach of the men’s basketball team at Baruch, replacing Ray Rankis, who has retired as coach after 29 years. Alesi, a 1,000-point scorer while at Baruch, was previously head coach at Hunter College. Entrepreneur and triple alumna Veronique Verscheure (MS ’04, MBA ’08) is one of the charter members of the Moxie Exchange Movement, a national organization of professional women founded in 2010. Its New York City chapter was launched in January.

Eliot M. Bassin (MS) has been promoted to partner at Bregman & Company, P.C. It’s the first time a non-Bregman has been at the helm of the family-owned accounting firm in its 35-year history. In March Donna Leno Gordon (EMPA) was honored by the Fund for the City of New York with a Sloan Public Service Award. She is the founder of the Palliative Care Unit at Coney Island Hospital and currently serves as its director of behavioral health nursing and palliative care. China Information Technology, Inc., has appointed Daniel K. Lee (MS) CFO. Previously he was senior investment advisor at Pine Capital, LLC.

Andrew Davidson (MBA) has been hired as VP of search and performance marketing at digital advertising agency Razorfish. He returns to the company after working as director of search for North America at Neo@Ogilvy. Vladislav Kuznetsov (MBA) has been appointed director of financial operations at health insurance provider Fidelis Care. He was previously administrator for the Department of Ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Hospital.

Christopher Bell (MPA) was awarded an Alfa Fellowship through Cultural Vistas, Alfa-Bank, and Oxford University. Currently in Moscow, Russia, as a participant in this professional development exchange program, Bell was the second Baruch student to be awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, in 2007. He is a senior analyst with the New York City Office of Management and Budget. Yvonne Erazo (MSEd) began doctoral studies in the higher education administration program at Northeastern University this past fall. HKS Capital Partners has hired Mohit Kohli (MBA) as senior analyst/load underwriting for the firm’s clients in the New York metropolitan area. He previously worked as a sales associate for Bond, New York. Bre Lawson has been promoted to the Program Management team at Straightline, a strategic brand consulting firm. She was the executive assistant to the company’s president and CEO, Michael Watras.

Standup comedian Daniel Lobell released his first album, Danny Lobell, Some Kind of Comedian (available at standuprecords.com). He is a host on the talk show Yackit.com. David Shapiro (MPA) was named interim director of Family and Children’s Service of Ithaca (N.Y.) in December 2011. He previously headed homeless services for the Salvation Army in New York City.
