After retiring from a Big Four accounting firm, CPA Leon Hariton began a second career as a sculptor (example left). His first one-man show was at Manhattan’s Schiller-Wapner Gallery in 1987, and his works are in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and Europe. Founder of the Nassau/Suffolk (Long Island) chapter of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners, Edwin J. Kliegman received the Leon D. Alpern Leadership Award in recognition of his years of service and guidance. Kliegman’s professional activities include founding Marcum & Kliegman, CPAs (now Marcum, LLP) and serving as director of CPE programs for Accounting Today. He also established one of the first local accounting firms in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Sidney Kess was a recipient of the 2011 Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the highest award granted to a CPA by the organization. Kess, the author of many publications, courses, videos and practice aids on income tax and financial and estate planning, is of counsel to Kostelanetz and Fink, LLP, in New York City. He was also named to the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Hall of Fame.
