Cynthia Okimoto (MA) founded New York Dog Nanny, a canine daycare and boarding facility for small-breed dogs located a few blocks from Baruch on Lexington Avenue. Mary Olushoga (MSEd) was the winner of the 2012 Oxfam America International Women’s Day Challenge, through GOOD Maker, an online platform for catalyzing social change. With the award, she will conduct webinars and create an online curriculum to enable African women and youths to launch or enhance their business and technological skills. A small business advocate and entrepreneur, Olushoga is the founder of the AWP Network, an organization that supports emerging entrepreneurs. Jessica Penaherrera-Kang, who was named a CUNYAC All-Star (for cross-country and swimming) all four years at Baruch, is a project associate in the Office of the Chief Information Officer at JP Morgan Chase.

In July Troave’ Profice (MPA) was appointed first vice chair and head of fundraising for Young Democrats of New Orleans. A National Urban Fellows alumna, she is the manager of school performance for the city’s Recovery School District. Judith Quintana (EMPA) has assumed the position of assistant dean for education administration at Weill Cornell Medical College. She previously worked at North Shore LIJ. While a student at Baruch, James Sampson (MBA) founded Appetition, an app that allows users to create microlevel, location-based petitions. Northstar Consulting Group has promoted Ayush Sukhani from assistant manager to manager of his own sales and marketing office in Silver Spring, Md. Marvin Webb (MBA) is director of operations and member services for Funders for LGBTQ Issues. He joined the organization as office manager in 2010.

Benjamin Kantor (MPA) was appointed budget analyst for the Parks Unit of the Office of the Mayor, Office of Management and Budget (N.Y.C.). Michelle Shaljian (MPA) won second prize in the Goldman Student Merit Award Competition, sponsored by the Public Health Association of New York City (PHANYC), for her capstone paper, “It’s Not ‘Who’ You Are; It’s ‘Where’ You Are: Take Care New York’s Housing Initiative and Recommendations for Assessing Health Impact.” She made a keynote presentation and received her award at the PHANYC Student Conference in May. Benjamin Strong (MPA) was hired as diplomatic liaison officer with the N.Y.C. Commission for the United Nations. He previously interned with the Office of Emergency Management and with the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance.
