“Without the Nadja Fidelia Scholarship, I can’t imagine having had any time for extracurricular activities, anything except work and study,” says Ting Ting Tso, who holds a BBA in accountancy (completed in June 2011) and who is on track to complete a second Baruch degree, an MS in taxation, this summer.

Participation in Baruch’s selective Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program was one of the extracurricular opportunities her Nadja Fidelia Scholarship enabled her to pursue. “VITA helped me obtain an internship and ultimately a full-time job,” says the grateful student. From 2007 to 2010, Tso received the Fidelia Scholarship, which helped her pay for tuition, fees, and books.

Growing up Hong Kong, Tso always wanted to pursue a career in business. Attending open houses and information sessions, she learned of Baruch’s strong reputation for supporting students’ dreams of career success. “Affordability, location, and academic excellence were the three reasons I chose Baruch College,” says the first-generation college graduate.

Once Tso completes her MS, she will begin a full-time position as a tax associate at Grant Thornton. She obtained this position through Baruch’s Starr Career Development Center On-Campus Recruiting Program. Within a year or two, Tso plans to pass the CPA exam and obtain her license.

“I am grateful for Ms. Fidelia’s continuous support of future generations,” says Tso.
