Wendy Derzaph (’80) has won two 2012 awards from the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU): in July the Prosecutor of the Year Award for Southern California and in September the National/International Public Service Award for the prosecution of an 11-defendant insurance fraud case. In August John Kastanis (MBA) was named president and CEO of Temple University Hospital; he had been interim CEO since December 2011.

Gloria Zweibel (MBA) has joined the human resources consulting firm NextGenHR as contract director of HR services. She previously worked in HR at Pitney Bowes and Citibank.

Patricia M. Schaubeck was appointed senior VP, general counsel, and corporate secretary of both Suffolk Bancorp and its banking subsidiary, Suffolk County National Bank. She was previously general counsel at State Bancorp.

Richard H. Blake has joined McDonald Hopkins LLC as a member and co-chair of the firm’s White Collar and Government Compliance Practice Group, based in Cleveland. Previously he was partner at Bricker & Eckler LLP, before which he served as a federal prosecutor with both the Department of Justice and Department of the Treasury. Eric M. Kirsch has been promoted to executive VP, global investments, at Aflac Incorporated. He will continue as global CIO, a position he has held since November 2011.

Baruch College Alumni Association president Hortense Ford helmed the BCAA’s annual meeting last June at which it presented the College with $20,000 to further endow the Baruch College Alumni Association Scholarship. The scholarship is given annually to an incoming freshman with financial need who demonstrates excellence in service, academics, and leadership. HoSun Kang (’85) and her sister performed at Flushing Town Hall theater in September as part of an evening of Korean dance and music presented by the Korean Traditional Music and Dance Institute. Kang has also performed at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts and Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center.
