And away we go!
Welcome to the class! This introduction unit will ask you to complete two assignments, both of which can be located further down on this page. This first week is all about getting to know each other and learning how to navigate the course website. Before you complete any of the assignments, make sure you have a Gmail account. If you don’t, it’s free and takes no time to create. You’ll need one to complete the Welcome Survey and to access the Shared Google Drive (where I will be uploading course materials like readings, assignment directions, important documents, etc.) By the end of the first week of class, you should:
-
-
- Understand how to use the course website to find important information and assignments
- Be familiar with the course syllabus, schedule, and deadlines
- Create a Gmail account (if you don’t have one already)
- Complete the Syllabus Quiz
- Complete the Welcome Survey
- Add a profile picture to your Zoom account
-
First things first
Before we embark on our journey together, it’s important that we all understand the course outcomes, policies, resources, schedule, deadlines, etc. The best way to do that is to read the syllabus. However, I don’t want you to passively skim over the document, I want you to take your time so that you can address any questions you might have during our first week of live classes. With that mind, here is your first assignment: (1) read the course syllabus (2) complete this short quiz
Onward!
Next, I’d like to get to know each of you as best I can this semester. Since we are still studying online, this can be difficult. But, I believe it’s vital for our class to do the best we can to establish a sense of community. If we can get to a place where we feel comfortable working together, then we will all be able to leave this course feeling like we’ve grown as students and as members of the Baruch community.
The first step is completing this Welcome Survey. Please answer the questions as best you can; and remember, I won’t be sharing this information with anyone in this class or at Baruch College.
One more thing!
If you are wondering when these two assignments are due, you can check the Course Schedule and Deadlines. This document lists our tentative plan for the semester. Keep in mind, that things can (and often do) change. For this reason, I implore you once again to get into the habit of checking this site and your Baruch email at least once every day.
Thank you for completing the first unit of the course! I’m looking forward to working together and getting to know each of you this spring. See you online!
