Writing 2150t: Spring 2021

Assignments: 4/19-4/23

Here is the lesson schedule for the week of April 19th. If you have any questions about the schedule or the lesson content, please leave a comment below so that all of your classmates can also have access to the information.

    1. First, read all of the feedback you’ve received on your outline, (my feedback in your Google Doc and the feedback your group members left on your post). If you have any questions, please reply to the comments I left you in your document or reply to the comments your group members left you on the website.
    2. Next, read the directions for submitting Draft 2 and for completing the self-reflection assignment. You can find these instructions below. The draft and the self-reflection are due on Friday, 4/23.

NOTE: Since we are nearing the end of the unit, I will not be able to read late submissions. So, if you have any questions about the assignment, make sure you address them as soon as possible. Please don’t wait until the day the assignment is due to tell me that you are having issues.

Major Assignment: Draft 2 (Due: Friday, 4/23)

For your second draft, you will only need to submit a Google Document. Here are the instructions for submitting Draft 2:

    1. Create a new Google Document in your folder on the shared drive.
    2. Please title this draft: NAME-MA2-D2. Some of you have not been following the directions for titles of documents even after I’ve explained why the titles are important for my organization of student work. I won’t be reminding you about this in my feedback so make sure you double check on your own.

Self-Reflection (Due: Friday, 4/23)

Instead of a peer review, I am asking that you complete a self-reflection task on your own draft. Please follow the directions below in order to receive full credit for the task:

    1. After you have finished writing, go back and read your work carefully.
    2. At the end of your document, write two paragraphs that address the following:
      • Find three things that you think are working well in your essay. Explain why you think they are working well in detail.
      • Find three things that you think you need to improve about your essay. Explain why you think these improvements need to be made in detail.

Feedback

I will use your reflections to give you feedback on your draft. I will also leave comments about grammar and vocabulary. Finally, I will give you an approximate grade on your draft. If you are happy with this grade, you can decide not to complete the next draft. If you are not happy with this grade, you can use my feedback to complete the final draft and improve your grade.
